Apart from writing many reviews for Sting’s The Last Ship, Opera Queensland’s Rusalka, Camerata’s, Revolution Remixed, Musica Viva’s Dorik Quartet and Lloyd van’t Hoff I travelled with Opera Queensland for their magical Festival of Outback Opera in Winton and Longreach from the 19-25 May.
Here are the reviews for each.
Camerata’s Revolution Remixed (shown below)
Musica Viva’s Dorik Quartet with Lloyd van’t Hoff
Opera Queensland’s Festival of Outback Opera
This last outback event was where I met a brilliant entertainer Bradley McCaw who has offered to sing at my Brisbane book launches on the 13 August, Books@Stones and at Riverbend Books on the 1 September.
McCaw is Brisbane’s Billy Joel, but he’s also a singer-songwriter who writes some really good original material.
Wynnum Fringe is a terrific event. Worth locking in for next year. Here’s the full review.
The event was well attended by experienced and emerging musicians alike. UQ students sung everywhere, and were a chorus for the main staged event.
