Hawkeye Publishing, who published Big Music, is releasing a revised edition of my memoir Elvis and Me: how a world-weary musician and a broken racehorse rescued each other. I'm adding new material and giving it a fresh look.
It will be available in June 2026. It's the parallel story of Elvis a formidable ex-racehorse who is bipolar, saddle phobic and charming and loving and me. I had never owned a horse let alone retrain one with such a lively, perverse spirit.
Now in consultation with Hawkeye we're designing the cover.
I favour a horse painting or else a photo of Elvis. Hawkeye may prefer to design a cover.
Do you have any ideas?
The image needs to reflect the horse content and also music which is tricky. I like these paintings by Archer Davies who is a rising star in the art world.
To learn more about him check out his profile at Jan Murphy Gallery, Brisbane.
Or we could use a picture of Elvis?
