I invited the artistic director of Brisbane Music Festival, now in its eighth year, to talk about this year's program.
In my view, the BMF, based at Fourth Wall Arts, which Alex likens to a New York Loft, is of immense value because it:
- offers much needed performance opportunities for young professional musicians
- commissions new repertoire
- presents distinctive and daring programs
- combines unusual instruments in chamber ensembles
- presents lesser known but significant repertoire
- appeals to an all ages demographic
- provides opportunities to hear emerging artists
- complements the other significant music events, concerts and recitals happening in Brisbane
Here is a video (brief) of Alex talking about it, and for more, see this article that Alex wrote for InReview.
